Joem's passion for helping others is one of the factors why he became a dispute resolution practitioner. Combined with his wide range of skills and experiences, his goal is to provide an affordable resolution of disputes to the parties. His flexibility to deal with various disputes provides an efficient way that will benefit the parties in dispute.
Joem has nearly 20 years of international post-qualification experience in engineering, procurement and construction with more than half that time spent in New Zealand. He has worked on projects throughout the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand. Throughout his career, he has worked on projects ranging from under $500,000 to over $1 Billion. This includes commercial buildings, offices, retail, residential, hotel/leisure resorts, industrial, healthcare, civic/educational, church/faith-based, highways, railways, dams, defence, and other civil engineering, and infrastructure projects. |
Over the years he has been working collectively and inclusively with other professionals in dispute resolution including dispute adjudication/avoidance boards ("DAAB") and has been appointed as adjudicator and dispute resolver on several occasions. He has been instrumental in resolving commercial disputes between parties under the Construction Contract and has worked as a consultant for both client/developer organisations and construction companies primarily in engineering, technology, procurement and construction. He has been involved in roles such as Contract Administrator, FIDIC Engineer and Engineer's Representative.
He is a multi-qualified professional: Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Chartered Building Engineer, Professional Civil Engineer, Project Management Professional and a Construction Law specialist. He has worked with various international standards and bespoke forms of construction contracts (including NEC, JCT, FIDIC, NZS, RMBA and NZIA). |
